Cyber Monday Emails: 8 Templates and When to Send Them

Read summarized version with
Summary
Cyber Monday 2026 falls on Monday, November 30. For most online stores it's a one-day sale wrapped in about 48 hours of email: a preview on Sunday, the launch on Monday morning, follow-ups during the day, and a short note on Tuesday when it's over.
Below are eight Cyber Monday email templates, in the order you'd send them. Each one has when to send it, one subject line, preview text, a body skeleton and a call to action. Then there's a send schedule for 2026 you can copy into your calendar. The example copy is written by us for a made-up store, and it's meant to be adapted, not pasted.
Looking for subject lines only? We keep a longer list of Cyber Monday subject lines that pairs with this post.
When to send each one: a Cyber Monday 2026 schedule
Counted from the 2026 calendar: Black Friday is Friday, November 27, Small Business Saturday is November 28, and Cyber Monday is November 30. The times below are a starting point, not a rule. If your list spans time zones, plan around the one where most of your customers are. Your own open data beats any schedule.
| # | Day | Suggested time | |
|---|---|---|---|
| 1 | Sunday preview | Sun, Nov 29 | Afternoon |
| 2 | Monday launch | Mon, Nov 30 | Early morning |
| 3 | Collection or best-seller pick | Mon, Nov 30 | Late morning |
| 4 | Resend to non-openers | Mon, Nov 30 | Early afternoon |
| 5 | Cart reminder (automation) | Runs all weekend | Triggered by the cart |
| 6 | Shipping cutoff and free-shipping reminder | Mon, Nov 30 | Mid-afternoon |
| 7 | Last chance | Mon, Nov 30 | Evening |
| 8 | "It's over" note | Tue, Dec 1 | Morning |
Not every store needs all eight. A small list with one offer can send the launch, the resend and the last chance, and let the cart automation do the rest.
To find your own best hour before the weekend, test it on a regular newsletter in the first half of November. On SmartrMail's Pro plan you can A/B test two send times on a campaign, and Pro also includes Send at Best Time (as of October 2026).
If you're also emailing on Black Friday, our Black Friday email examples and Black Friday subject lines cover the Friday.
8 Cyber Monday email templates
Brackets are yours to fill in. We left discount amounts blank on purpose: the right offer is the one your margins can hold.
1. Sunday preview
When: Sunday, November 29, afternoon.
Subject line: Tomorrow: [offer] on [category]
Preview text: Here's what's in the Cyber Monday sale, so you can plan your cart tonight.
Body skeleton:
- One line: the sale starts tomorrow at [time, time zone] and ends [exact end].
- What's included, in three bullets.
- Two or three products with images from your catalog.
- A soft button: "Look around now".
CTA: Look around now
Why it works: a preview gives the people who plan ahead a night to build a wish list, so Monday's email lands with a head start.
2. Monday launch
When: Monday, November 30, early morning.
Subject line: It's on: [offer], today only
Preview text: Cyber Monday starts now and ends at [time] tonight.
Body skeleton:
- The offer in one line, the exact end time underneath.
- One hero image or product.
- Three to six products in the sale, pulled from a live product feed so prices are current.
- One main button, repeated at the bottom.
CTA: Shop the sale
This is the email most of your list sees first on the day. Keep it short. If someone has to scroll to find the offer, the email is too long.
3. Collection or best-seller pick
When: Monday, late morning.
Subject line: The Cyber Monday best-sellers so far
Preview text: Pulled from today's orders, not a guess.
Body skeleton:
- One line of context: "Here's what's selling so far."
- Your actual best-sellers from the sale, from today's sales data.
- A short note on each (one line: who it's for).
- Button to the full sale.
CTA: See the picks
Only call something a best-seller if it is. Your subscribers will believe you once.
4. Resend to non-openers
When: Monday, early afternoon.
Subject line: In case you missed it: [offer] ends tonight
Preview text: Same sale, a few hours left.
Body skeleton:
- The launch email, with the subject line and the first line changed.
- Send only to people who didn't open email 2.
CTA: Shop before [time]
On SmartrMail's Pro plan, Smart Resend to non-openers does this from the launch email's stats page. You change the subject line and preview, and it goes only to people who didn't open, and only to those who've opened another campaign in the last 30 days, so you're not mailing the unengaged twice in one day (as of October 2026). Change at least the subject line. Sending the same email twice to people who already opened it is how unsubscribes happen.
5. Cart reminder (automation)
When: Triggered when someone leaves items in the cart, running all weekend.
Subject line: Your cart is still here (and so is the deal)
Preview text: The Cyber Monday price holds until [time] tonight.
Body skeleton:
- The products they left, with images and the sale price.
- The end time of the sale.
- One button straight back to the cart.
CTA: Back to my cart
This one isn't a campaign. It's your abandoned cart automation, with the copy updated for the weekend. Check it before Friday so it mentions the right sale and the right end time. We go deeper on timing and copy in our guide to abandoned cart emails.
6. Shipping cutoff and free-shipping reminder
When: Monday, mid-afternoon.
Subject line: Order today for delivery by [date]
Preview text: Plus free shipping over [amount] until tonight.
Body skeleton:
- The order-by date for delivery before the holidays, stated plainly.
- The free-shipping threshold, if you have one.
- Two or three gift-friendly products from the sale.
CTA: Order in time
For gift buyers, "will it arrive?" is a real question, and this email answers it. Only use dates your carrier actually commits to. For the full December version, see our post on shipping deadline emails.
7. Last chance (evening)
When: Monday, evening, a few hours before the end.
Subject line: Last call: Cyber Monday ends at [time]
Preview text: After that, prices go back to normal.
Body skeleton:
- The end time in the first line.
- The offer, one more time.
- Three products, no more.
CTA: Shop before it ends
Make the deadline real. If the sale ends at midnight, end it at midnight.
8. Tuesday morning "it's over" note
When: Tuesday, December 1, morning.
Subject line: Cyber Monday is over. Thank you.
Preview text: A quick note from us, and what's next.
Body skeleton:
- Two lines: the sale has ended, thanks for shopping.
- Shipping update for orders placed over the weekend.
- One link to what's next (new arrivals, gift guide), no discount.
CTA: See what's new
Don't announce a surprise "extension" unless your store really runs one, planned in advance. A sale that comes back the next morning teaches your list to wait next year.
Design notes for a mobile inbox
Plenty of these emails will be opened on a phone, between other things. A few habits help:
- Put the offer and the end time in the first screen. No scrolling to find out what the email is about.
- One column. Side-by-side product grids get tiny on a phone.
- Big buttons, with enough space around them for a thumb.
- Live prices. Pull products from a live feed so a sold-out item or an old price doesn't show up in the email.
- Preview on both screens before you send. SmartrMail's editor has mobile and desktop preview and 50+ templates to start from (as of October 2026).
If you want unique codes per customer instead of one public code, SmartrMail's unique coupon code generator does that on the Essential plan for Shopify stores (as of October 2026). One shared code is easy to post on a coupon site; a code per customer isn't.
Beyond the inbox: SMS and on-site capture
Some of your customers will see a text before they see an email. A short SMS on Monday morning and one in the evening can cover the launch and the last call. Keep it to the offer, the end time and a link. In SmartrMail, SMS campaigns sit in the same dashboard as email, and the Pro plan includes 1,000 SMS credits a month (as of October 2026).
The other half is capture. Visitors who arrive over the weekend and don't buy are worth a sign-up form, so you can reach them on Monday. A simple pop-up with a clear reason to subscribe ("Get the Cyber Monday offer first") does the job.
Frequently asked questions
How many emails should I send on Cyber Monday?
A simple shape is three campaign emails on the day: the launch, a resend to non-openers and a last chance. Add a Sunday preview and a Tuesday note if your list is used to hearing from you, and let the cart automation run in the background.
What time should I send a Cyber Monday email?
There's no single best time for every list. Early morning for the launch and evening for the last chance is a reasonable starting point. Your own data is better: test two send times on a regular newsletter in early November. On SmartrMail's Pro plan you can A/B test send times, and Pro also includes Send at Best Time.
Should I send the same email on Black Friday and Cyber Monday?
No. Shoppers who opened your Black Friday email will notice. Change the offer, the products or at least the angle, and send the Monday launch only to people who haven't already bought the same thing.
Key takeaways
- Cyber Monday 2026 is Monday, November 30. Plan emails from Sunday the 29th to Tuesday morning, December 1.
- The launch email is the one most of your list sees first. Keep it short, with the offer and end time on top.
- Resend to non-openers, not to everyone.
- Check your abandoned cart automation copy before the weekend.
- End the sale when you said you would, and say thanks on Tuesday.
